Graphic design

During my first 2 years at college (between 2013 – 2015), I studied graphic design. Here is a compilation of some of my favourite projects made during that time.

The Seven Deadly Sins

This was the first project I made for Graphic design back in 2013. We were given the task of designing booklet and cover art for an album titled “The Seven Deadly Sins”.

Magazine design

This project involved creating some pages for a magazine of our choice, which included a cover and a double page layout. I chose to make it for an art magazine I made up called planet art. The artwork I included within the magazine are all my own pieces.

Mixed Media

This task was to create a mixed media piece based on a theme of our choosing, which I chose to be “heavy metal” (no surprise there). My final piece uses a mixture of traditional and digital mediums, including parts of album covers, logos, instruments as well as drawings created by me. I also created another piece which I based on the theme of “speed”, which just includes a bunch of cars, explosions and stuff.

Typography

For this project the task was to create a family out of typography, which I decided to title the “Smith” family.

Creative Type

This project involved creating a logo for a hypothetical sci-fi exhibition.

Mixed Media 2

Here’s some work I did for another mixed media project, this time focusing more around collage.

Oreo’s

This project had something to do with Oreos. Don’t ask.

Fun with facts

This project involved coming of with creative ways to display factual information.

The Last Supper

The project involved coming up with creative ways to reinterpret popular imagery/iconography in a way that could be suitable for advertising. I chose to reinterpret Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper into an advert for Rolos.

Safety Poster

This project involved making a poster about the importance of wearing safety gloves in a work environment. I had this idea for a poster depicting the scene of an accident where someone’s hand had been “killed” by not wearing a glove.

Time travel products – The fashion magazine of the future

The premise of this project was to make a product or series of products that could be sold to time travellers. My idea for this was to make a fashion magazine of the future, so that people travelling into the future can have a clear idea of what the most prominent fashion trends will be in the future. This project was more of a creative writing brief than a design one.

Lego poster

For the final major project of my graphic design course, I made some posters advertising Lego. The themes behind these posters was to demonstrate the creativity that can be achieved with Lego, as well as how ingrained Lego is into popular culture.
